Sunday 1st March, 12-4pm, Balloch Castle Country Park
We’ll be celebrating World Wildlife Day on Sunday 1st March from 12-4pm at Balloch Castle Country Park. The event is free to attend and open to everyone. We’ll have a wide range of wildlife themed activities on the day as well as environmental organisations taking part to highlight some of the important work going on in and around Balloch to support biodiversity and local wildlife. This event is funded and delivered in partnership with Scottish Forestry and this will be our second celebration of World Wildlife Day following up from our previous event in 2018 at Greenbank Gardens.
On the day we’ll have face painting, treasure hunts, storytelling, a campfire, arts and crafts, outdoor play, birds of prey and lots more free activities for people to take part in.
The World Wildlife Day theme this year is ‘Sustaining all Life on Earth’ this is the description given by the United Nations Website: World Wildlife Day will be celebrated in 2020 under the theme “Sustaining all life on Earth”, encompassing all wild animal and plant species as key components of the world’s biodiversity. This aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals 1, 12, 14 and 15, and their wide-ranging commitments on alleviating poverty, ensuring sustainable use of resources, and on conserving life both on land and below water to halt biodiversity loss.

In line with this theme we have chosen to celebrate ‘Wildlife and Biodiversity’ and all our activities on the day will be themed around this where possible.
Join us on Sunday 1st March for an outdoor celebration of wildlife and feel free to bring your own picnic and make it a full day outdoors! We look forward to welcoming you to our event.
