Operation Play Outdoors are excited to introduce their new outdoor programme for adults, Bikes and Bushcraft, starting on the 22nd August 2020. This programme has been created to meet the demand for alternative outdoor sessions where public transport is not required. Our Bikes and Bushcraft sessions will have a designated starting point in Glasgow and our instructor will then take you on a led ride through local greenspaces. Our final destination will have some bushcraft activities set up for participants to take part in as well as a campfire and some hot drinks.
Come join us for a day of fun and activities in the woods and on a bike, all designed to bring people together, get back outdoors and socialise while still maintaining all the necessary physical distancing and hygiene requirements in line with government guidance.
It is time to get back out, enjoy meeting with people and enjoy the benefits of being out in nature. Our activities are great to improve your wellbeing, and are all delivered by trained and experienced facilitators to ensure you get the most from your outdoor experience.
Further details of our Bikes and Bushcraft sessions can be found in the link below including further details of where our routes will set off from. There will be two route options and they’ll be available on alternate weeks, one route going from the South to East of Glasgow, and the other going from the West to South. Each route has been chosen to take in as much nature as possible with planned stops along the way.
For each session we will meet at 10am at our designated meeting spot, and from there we will get ready to set off. You can bring your own bike or you can hire a bike from one of the Nextbike hire facilities that will be available from our meeting point. We will set off from our meeting point and aim to be at our planned destination for lunch time, ready to try some bushcraft activities and enjoy some hot drinks by the fire.
This experience guarantees an interactive and enjoyable time outdoors, under the trees, cycling through nature and enjoying the peaceful woodland environment at our final destination.
Time in nature can reduce your stress and lift your mood. You will have a chance try some bushcraft, including fire building, foraging and crafts, as well as having something to take away from each session. In every Bikes and Bushcraft session, we guarantee you will have something not only physical to take away but also a new experience and memory that could ignite a new passion for exploring nature by bike.
This will be a relaxed and fun session which will boost all those happy hormones in your body.
Come join us for a day of biking and bushcraft, have some tea, share some stories and even toast some marshmallows before you head home. Our Bikes and Bushcraft sessions are open to all adults and we’d be happy to answer any questions you have before making a booking.
